Michael is a “retirement failure” and displaced Colorado native. He is an honorably discharged Air Force Emergency Action Controller having served in Southeast Asia. He also served 8 years in the Colorado Air National Guard.
After 25 years, he officially “graduated” from the Thornton Fire Department after serving its citizens as a firefighter/paramedic. His retirement lasted a whole three months.
Michael was recruited to work for a large software development company as an incident command subject matter expert and software deployment technician.
Eventually he found his way in to academia and became the fire science, homeland security and emergency management degree program coordinator for two Colorado community colleges. In 2011 he became the Education Programs Specialist for the U.S. Fire Administration and moved to Pennsylvania where he lives with his lovely wife.
He earned three college degrees including a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Multi Major from Metropolitan State University in Denver, CO. Michael is also a graduate of the prestigious National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program. He is also honored as the Distinguished Alumni of the year award for 2014.
Over the years Michael has dabbled in such arts as sculpture (glass, steel and wood), flying, photography and video production. He will soon retire from Federal service to pursue his passions.
Kathy is a virtual office assistant of over twenty-three years. She provides a variety of services to clients around the world. She is also a photographer whose work has been displayed globally and an herbalist, currently studying clinical herbalism.
Kathy has been a Regional Semi-Finalist in the Rocky Mountain Region for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. She was awarded the coveted Thomas Leonard International Virtual Assistant of Distinction Award, and has been featured in numerous articles.
She is the author of Virtual Assistant Cookbook; Recipes for Cooking Up Success (Amazon).
Between them, Kathy & Michael are parents to four and grandparents to soon to be six grandchildren. They are also the parents of mini-Dachshund fur-children, Ginger and Mac.
Amanda is a student at Staunton River High School in Virginia. She has been a distinguished honor roll student since middle school. Amanda is noted for her strong study habits and good work ethic.
Amanda is the team captain of e-sports team. She also competes in extemporaneous speaking for her schools’ forensics team. She has placed first in the regional tournament.
Her plan is to finish high school with her associates degree then move on to a 4-year college while doing what she loves, creating new things and helping people.
